• My Retro Setup

From Codefenix@GAMENET/CONCHAOS to All on Wed Jun 10 11:56:15 2020
My retro setup currently consists of:
    - PS2
    - GameCube
    - Super NES
    - NES
    - Toshiba SD-4000 DVD Player
    - Optimus Model 64 VCR (hell, yeah)

All connected to my RCA 27" CRT TV that I bought 15+ years ago from RadioShack when I used to be a manager there.

I use a Pelican 5-way AV switch (plus a second 4-way AV switch) to connect everything together to the set, using S-video for the all systems that support it.

The picture clarity on the CRT provided by S-video is absolutely stunning. It really breathes new life into SNES games.

I output the audio from the TV to an old silver/woodgrain Nikko 8085 stereo receiver and a pair of Optimus walnut bookshelf speakers. It's nothing fancy, but I like the way it enhances the sound of everything.

What's everyone else gaming on these days?

What's everyone else gaming on these days?

    Well I'm glad you asked.
I'm mostly playing Retro games on my 55 inch OLED, which i sit less than 2 meters away from like an absolute maniac
I use shaders when playing retro games to make my OLED look more like a CRT.

For console games that dont have good emulators yet, like PS4; PS Vita; Xbox360... i do physically use the console. I hacked them so i can just pirate the game ROMs and play them on the console itself. Retro games are often kind of expensive to buy.

For some handheld gaming systems like DS and 3DS the emulators are good (besides the shader compilation stutter on 3DS) some games REALLY need an actual touchscreen to play them, like ChibiRobo Park Patrol. So i also use a DSi XL and a (new)3DS XL to play those games.

I do actually own a bunch of consoles but i dont use them if emulators are a better experience.

When i finally get around to it (when i finished my ToDo list for work and stuff) I wanna play Harvestella (PC), Madou Monogatari (Megadrive/Genesis), and Bomberman Hero (N64).

Anyway thanks for reading my first ever BBS post lol. (Y)
(ok... how do i actually save and post this???)
